Google Maps adds ‘My Location’ BETA service

I caught this via engaget earlier last week.
Google Maps has added a ‘My Location’ BETA service. What is this?
What they’ve done is added an extra feature to the existing Google maps application that utilizes cell towers to position you within a wide radius … instead of pin pointing you directly through exact GPS coordinates.
