PewPew source code released (AIR for Android Flash mobile game)

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

Mike Chambers (Adobe) posted the source for his “pew-pew” Flash mobile game. Originally an iPhone game made with Flash CS5 and the iPhone packager, the game has since been retooled for Android (by leveraging existing AS3, assets, etc. Reuse FTW). Read his blog for more details. BTW: It utilizes the Simple-Game-Framework (another work from Mike), [...]

Frash project brings Flash to iPad via hack and compatibility layer

Sunday, July 4th, 2010

So the news of the day (in regards to Flash on devices) is that the hacker: comex has managed to get Flash content running on iPad by leveraging the Android Flash runtime and some hacking. The videos look promising for the hacker and developer communities to gawk at, but it requires a jailbroken iPad and [...]

FlashBelt 2010 Mobile Guide (for iPhone)

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

There’s a FlashBelt 2010 Mobile Guide attendees can download and use. Get your #flashbelt app! : RT @juliandolce: @flashbelt iTunes app now in the App Store http://bit.ly/d0Iy56 This is (of course) a native app, but I’m guessing that Julian used Adobe tooling to either a.) prototype it or b.) create the graphically assets. In any [...]

There’s no smartphone shipping with Flash <- Sorry Steve, you’re wrong.

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

D8 was held yesterday and I’d like to respond to a couple things Steve Jobs apparently said in conversation: 6:28 PM Steve: ‘There’s no smartphone shipping with Flash…’ It’s semantics. Select consumer devices (e.g. Google Nexus One) were getting Android 2.2 (aka “FROYO”) updated OTA (over the air) weeks before D8 even started which had [...]

Brass Monkey SDK – connecting mulitple devices, displays, & controlling content over Wi-Fi networks

Monday, April 26th, 2010

infrared5 has created an SDK called Brass Monkey which connects multiple devices over a Wi-Fi network. It allows for things like users controlling their web based action games using just a standard mobile device such as an iPhone. From what I understand, they are using Red5 They’ve created some custom protocols to send and receive [...]

Google and Adobe = The enemy of my enemy is my friend

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Recently, the VP of Engineering posted on Adobe’s blog. Here’s what he had to say: “Partnerships have been at the very heart of Android, the first truly open and comprehensive mobile platform, since we first introduced it with the Open Handset Alliance. Through close relationships with carriers, device manufacturers, developers, and others, Google is working [...]

Here are the slides from the presentation. They [...]

360|iDev this week

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

I’m flying out to 360|iDev tomorrow. It’s a bitter sweet journey, as I had planned on writing apps more apps for iPhone/iPad using Flash CS5 and taking advantage of Adobe’s iPhone Packager (which apparently, according to Adobe, will be out soon, regardless of Apple’s recent move). I also planned to use other tools in this [...]

Thou shall not pass for iPhone Packager? New Apple Agreement and “section 3.3.1″

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

With the news and announcements of iPhone OS 4.0 … apparently there is a new Apple Developer Agreement (EULA for iPhone/iPad development) that will, at some point, come into play. In it, there’s section 3.3.1, and a clause that reads: “Applications that link to Documented APIs through an intermediary translation or compatibility layer or tool [...]
