Flash on Tap
According to my Chumby widget, Flash on Tap is currently 40 days left, so I wanted to the word out that for some pre-conference brewing I am putting together prior to October 7-9, 2008 for Flash on Tap (FYI: early bird registration ends September 8th!).
For those not familiar, Flash on Tap can be [...]

“Talking box to the sky”? - Amazonian tribe’s reaction to mobile …

Friday, May 30th, 2008

If one were to drop a Nokia N95, iPhone, or other mobile device into this village with a continuous video playing … I wonder what the reaction would be to this tribe …
Would they destroy it? Put it on a shrine as a “talking box to the sky”? Worship it as a god? Treat it [...]

Flash on Tap (aka “FOT”) in Boston - October-ish, 2008

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Looks like things are firming up for FOT … Flash on Tap (Boston), looks to be taking place, October, 2008 (tenative! So think October-ish).
You can get more information here.
Last year we had Flash Forward in Boston, looks like this is Boston’s own special Flash event for 2008.
Leave it to (beer aficionado) Chris Allen and those [...]

So … what *is* your ideal Chumby?

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

Engaget had a post about what you would change in the chumby.
Both existing owners and new comers are posting comments there on their gripes, ideas, “wish-listing”, and other commentary on the chumby.
Also, if you did not know, there is also a fair amount of traffic on the community forums Chumby has setup, which lots [...]

Any Mobile Developer’s “worst nightmare” …

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

Read this.
From the awesome-ness that is engadget:
It’s a crazy, mixed-up world we live in.
If we aren’t worrying about global warming or peace in the middle east, we have to be on the lookout for scorned women setting large quantities of mobile devices on fire.
A certain Mrs. Wang is guilty of that latter offense. [...]

Mobile devices really *are* planning to take over the world!?

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Oh noes … Mobile devices really *are* taking over the world … check out the Toshiba’s 815T PB on Softbank.
Do these devices support Flash Lite that connect to Skynet via a loadVariables()?! Not sure!
In any regard, anyone know Sarah Connor’s address? Must get John Connor to safety!
Joking, of course …
These are supposedly called Ketai Sousakan, [...]

buglabs.net - The ‘Lego’ of Gadgets

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

Bug Labs has an interesting concept.
buglabs.net is selling a kit which allows the average tech savvy consumer (but not necessarily an all out hardware “hacker”) the ability to create/experiment with snap friendly type hardware components.
“BUG makes it fun and easy to build any gadget you can imagine. Build familiar things like digital cameras and GPS [...]

Sponge Bob’s got some Adobe Flash Home love

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

Chris Georgenes (aka Mudbubble, aka “keyframer”) posted about some animation work he did for Mobile World Congress 2008.
It’s a Nickeledon based home screen using Adobe Flash Home.
I haven’t seen the user interface first hand, but I imagine it’s pretty fun, given his animation work.
Anyways, nice brand for mobile both in U.S. market and [...]
