Dale’s giving some online e-seminar sessions next week on Mobile workflow with CS4 and Creating Mobile Phone Wallpapers for Designers:

In 2009 I’ll be continuing the regular Flash Mobile eSeminars for the Adobe Pacific office (www.adobeeseminars.com.au)and there’s two coming up in January:

January 21st:
Mobile Workflow in Adobe Creative Suite 4 – This session will look at the various ways that products within the CS4 family touch on the mobile platform and interact with Device Central CS4

January 22nd:
Creating Mobile Phone Wallpapers for Designers – This session is for non-Flash designers who might use Illustrator already, and showing how to create mobile specific artwork and test using Device Central

All sessions are at 2pm Sydney time (GMT +11 in daylight saving)> – check your timezones here.

Device Central is a mobile device simulator and testing application that serves as the hub of mobile design and development in Creative Suite 4.

It simulates the display, interface, and performance of hundreds of phones and other devices, and is kept up to date via an online database. Device Central is an indispensable tool for Flash Lite developers.

Just a reminder, but on August 6 this week (in the APAC region), Dale is giving an Adobe eSeminar – Persistent Data in Flash Lite.

Thoughts on Persistent Data with Flash on Devices

This reminds me, that earlier this year at CTIA, I had a chance to speak with some of the Symbian team about their plans to integrate SQLite database support into future version(s) of their Symbian OS … this might mean the possibility of it ending up on S60 devices put out by Nokia, et al. Pretty cool.

Obviously if this were to happen, it would extremely practical if there could be an API, either; directly in a Flash Player … via 3rd party plugin framework (Kuneri Lite, Flyer, Janus), or all of the above.

Just think if there was an API to store and query data on your mobile device with SQLite just as if you were working with a Web, Flex, or AIR application. Think of the potential use cases … it would be really cool (and useful), right?

Anyways, I’ll leave it to the Flash Mobile development community to lobby for a future feature requests for each of these products, by clicking on the respective product links found above and emailing the companies.
