I made this widget (Candle Lite) during lunch today. It’s just a bit of Flash Lite 3.0 animation for effect. I always wanted a “virtual” candle, so I made one. More features soon.

Along with my HTC Hero, the UPS guy also handed me a package containing a copy of AdvancED:Flash on Devices – Mobile Development with Flash Lite and Flash 10, today, so apparently the book is shipping from amazon.
We’ve setup a basic companion website – advancED.flashmobilebook.com, and will be growing this, along with supplemental material that [...]

An interesting feature request has been submitted to Adobe for future Flash Players.
“Open up the microphone object in ActionScript to allow access to the raw bytes coming in from the device’s (computer) microphone access through Flash Player.
This would enable features like sound/stream capture, sound manipulation, stereo activity, advanced activity detection and possibly tune/equalizer modification [...]

So, if you hadn’t heard, Chumby has begun their initiative to get their content delivery service and widget infrastructure (widgets are essentially Flash Lite 3/Flash 8 SWFs, BTW) onto a slew of consumer electronics, including: chumbys, photo frames, clock radios, internet tablets/devices, even your TV.
Here’s a sneak peak of what’s to come:

From biskero, a recent chumby article that is on boston.com: “Overpriced high-tech beanbag is smarter than it looks”
“Overpriced high-tech beanbag is smarter than it looks”
I have developed for the Chumby platform in some detail (since it runs Flash Lite 3), and can say it’s a fun little (non-portable) device.
As a consumer, although it hasn’t [...]

From March 2-4, 2009, there is a new conference called 360|iDev that is happening in San Jose. It’s an iPhone Developer’s conference.
I’ll be there speaking about how to leverage accelerometer input within mobile content (apps, games, UIs). I’ll soon post the finalized session description soon, but my talk focuses not only on iPhone, but compares [...]

Anyways, I thought I’d post some quick highlights from 2008 (on a professional level). This is really off the top of my head, and [...]
