mocarbon - reducing impact of mobile phones …

Monday, September 24th, 2007

Moket recently launched mocarbon - an initiative to reduce the impact of mobile phone charging has on the environment by the innovative use of Flash Lite screen savers.

ok - so now I officially feel quite guilty (and responsible) given all my devices …
This quote from the website does not help me personally one bit:

Commentary on Flash Lite from a Blog in France

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

Here is some commentary from Hebi’s blog in France.
Not all hugs and kisses … but I always respect other people’s opinions and views on mobile technology, especially from other parts of the world.
You can get it in Googlized English (can’t guarantee accuracy of translation as google massacres French!) or native French.
If you speak French, then [...]

Saturday, August 4th, 2007

I noticed a new Friends of Ed book entitled Flash CS3 for Designers has a chapter on Flash Mobile entitled: “Going Mobile in Flash”.
The book is by Tom Green and David Stiller.
Good to see it’s in there. The chapter covers Adobe Device Central, and then walks through a photo gallery type Flash Lite [...]

iPhone based S60 theme for 3rd Edition devices

Saturday, August 4th, 2007

I’ve seen some overzealous hackers replicating the iPhone UI on various Symbian based (Nokia) devices. This is kind of cool … in the fact that it demonstrates the power and “openness” of the S60 platform.
Recently, as one example of many, over at Darla Mack’s site, she posted about an “iTheme” based on the iPhone UI. [...]

“Scratch” is not quite Flash Player 9, but still cool for the kiddies

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

Not a mobile post, but I got plenty of those lined up, so here’s something a bit different from the norm here on the blog.
MIT media labs has an interesting project going on called “Scratch”, which appears to be a fun and easy to learn platform that can be used to create very basic interactive [...]

“Strings” - who says you need special effects?

Sunday, July 23rd, 2006

“Strings”. This is one of the most interesting movies I’ve seen in a while. By interesting, I really mean unique.
I believe it’s a

When a tween is not a “tween” …

Thursday, July 6th, 2006

I know you probably are scratching your head … but, I never knew this up until this point. Apparently “tween” has a double meaning … “Between” or “A child between middle childhood and adolesence, usually between 8 and 12 years old”. Yikes.
Stephanie Rieger had used it in a context that I thought was at first [...]

Joshua Davis and Helio articles in Wired Magazine

Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

In the latest article of Wired (March 2006), there are 2 things that you might think are cool.
1. An article on Josh Davis entitled: “The barely controlled chaos of Joshua Davis”
Mostly about Josh and Brandon’s “generative composition machines”, which they showed last year at FITC 2005.
I still remember Josh explaining how he got the [...]
