This week is Flash on Tap, and I’m just putting the finishing touches on my presentation entitled: “Brewing Flash Experiences on Non-PC devices” (aka “Brewing Non-PC Flash Experiences”) which I will be delivering at the conference.

“If you haven’t heard the recent news, Flash will be running on well over 1 billion Non-PC devices, worldwide, by 2009. Business folks sometimes call this “market penetration”; I simply call it f-u-n.

In this session, we’ll cover what’s new in the exciting world of Flash in the Non-PC realm; including an overview of the latest tools, products, and services from Adobe that designers and developers can leverage to help design, develop, test, and deploy compelling experiences across mobile, consumer electronic, embedded, and other Non-PC device platforms.

In addition to the overview, we’ll also discuss a few real-world Flash Lite projects; including a discussion on the creation processes, best practices, project challenges, tips and tricks, potential pitfalls (to avoid!), as well as new ways to innovate within the mobile and devices space.”

If you’re interested in mobile (regardless of platform or device), I hope to see you there … it’s not just a Flash Lite session, as if you haven’t already heard, Flash 10 for SmartPhones is on it’s way soon.

I’m also sitting in on Keith Peter’s iPhone Development class. I’m already familiar, but I can use with some refresher, and I’m hoping to gain some insight into some tips and tricks from Keith.

Seems there is a good amount of “AS to Objective C” type courses floating around … I find it interesting, especially since there are tools on the horizon that will take Flash and convert it to native mobile formats (including native iPhone code) … e.g. Open-Plug and eyeGT/B.tween. Wonder how long these classes will actually last, actually …

Also, if you haven’t heard the news, Nokia OVI store launched, which is cool news for Flash Mobile Developers … and Palm is shipping the Pre next week on June 6th (I haven’t heard if the firmware has Flash 10 or not, my gut tells me that the player will be pushed later this year, OTA). Maybe Adobe will show an early Pre with Flash at FOT, that would be cool …

One other thing … I’ve got some neat beer coasters I’ve created for the conference. If you find me at the conference, ask for one. They are free (I have a couple hundred of them in various shapes and forms).

Via Mark and a few other community members, Adobe has announced Adobe Mobile Packager 1.1 Beta will be available soon.

“In this release we focused our efforts on created a cleaner installation, creation and signing workflow for the tool.

We received a lot of feedback regarding the difficulties in getting setup and producing your mobile applications, and I’m really excited to see those answered in this upcoming release.”
