The 3.3.1 “Breakfast Club”
September 9th, 2010 by scottjanousekIn light of recent events today, this song comes to mind for all those companies that were part of the 3.3.1 “club” : Adobe, Ansca, Phonegap, Unity, and others.
Oddly enough, the song also goes out to developers flocking to Android and other platforms due to lot of Apple’s decisions …
The Breakfast Club – “Don’t you (forget about me)”
I think the pic best sums it up, no matter where you’re coming from:

J.Nelson at end of the movie
Still … my gut reaction is it was only Apple evaluating the market (Android, anyone?), the lawyers earning their $400/hr (no one likes legal problems down the road), trying to garner attention from (mobile) developers, much more so than a “change of heart” in Apple “listening to developers”.
However, everything was likely a factor, so kudos to Apple for rescinding that awful decision made earlier this year.
There were a lot of great tools that were affected by 3.3.1, officially and unofficially.
Is Apple “open”? No.
Is Apple capable of making mistakes and able correct them? Yes.
I really look forward to see where Apple goes from here with their iOS platform.
Also, (if you haven’t noticed, lol) exciting times not just for Apple, but all mobile and device platforms!
… I could go on and on ranting about all this, but time is money, and this blog isn’t readily monetizable these days.
