Light Touch Interactive Holographic Laser Projector uses Flash Lite 3.1
January 5th, 2010 by scottjanousekUpdate:
Here’s a live demo video of the device from CES.
From CES coverage, here’s a new device that’s very neat that runs Flash … it’s an interactive HLP (Holographic Laser Projection) device created by Light Touch Optics, which seems like a real win, if it can deliver such a quality picture as they advertise (my guess is a video on youtube will show up revealing it’s capabilities in the real-world scenarios).
Conceptual Video (hope to see a real one on youtube from CES this week)
This cigarette-sized box creates a 10in. display (which does 15 lumens for typical video content, 35 lumens for typical symbology content) and runs Adobe Flash Lite 3.1.
The screen can do WVGA resolution video images, plus there’s an infra red touch sensing system (which from the video we would be lead to believe supports some basic gesturing, like zooming).
It’s also got: 2 GB of onboard flash storage is available, Micro SD card slot for up to 32 GB of extra memory, WiFi (B/G), and Bluetooth for social networking, multimedia sharing and electronic point of sale, and more.
Looks like the battery can last 2 hours, but it can also be wall plugged.
All the specs are here.
Take a look at some of the early applications built using Flash (Lite).
Also, here are some the use cases we are led to believe it can do, or will be able to do in the future with products like this (including applying the HLP technology in vehicles):
Hope to see one “in the wilds” soon, at which point we can see if it’s “all that” and worthy of all the marketing backing it.
