Via Mark. Adobe has opened the RTMP Specification for Flash Video as part of the ongoing efforts of the Adobe Open Screen Project.

If you weren’t aware, Flash Lite 3.0 has support for native Flash Video, and 3.1 continues the support with more functionality.

To me, Flash Video is one of a few areas where Adobe can win really big on mobile these days. Seems to me, the same thing that played out with video on the web, is happening across mobile and devices.

That being said, it would be big win, if we had a consistent video playback engine across all mobile and devices. Namely, Flash Video.

In fact, if you take a look around, we are already seeing adoption of Flash Video support across device OEMs who utilize Flash within a mobile browser context.
