This video is from this week’s CES conference (there are other product videos and demos over there as well!):

It’s Greg Sullivan of Microsoft talking about Microsoft Windows Mobile Platform, “Life without Walls”, and some of what to expect in this coming year here in 2009 from Microsoft and their Mobile offering.

In the video, he shows off devices from Sony Ericsson Experia X1 (which I believe was plagued with delays last year), Samsung Omnia, and the HTC Touch Pro. Some of these phones sell over a million, part of a dozen or popular devices that run Windows Mobile.

Here are some comments from Greg on the devices he showed:

Sony Ericsson Experia X1, runs windows mobile 6.1. Has a “tile panel UI” – like T-Mobile favorite 5 and “cover flow” from Apple.

Samsung Omnia – 5 MB camera, on-the-fly panomorama photo feature.

HTC – “touch flow” UI (which acts very much like the iPhone). He also touted a netflix mobile app (big whoop, come on, you guys need a marketplace!).

Flash is coming to Windows Mobile Platform
The coolest thing is that Greg talked openly about Flash being leveraged on the Windows Mobile OS.

He mentioned specifically the introduction of Flash within the next version of Microsoft Internet Explorer for Mobile (but it may also be leveraged for UI and standalone content on certain devices).

I love how he didn’t mention Flash or Flash Lite … to people like Greg it doesn’t matter much, as the roadmaps are getting closer between players. End user certainly doesn’t care, just wants a great, high fidelity, mobile user experience where sites actually display Flash content (cough, cough iPhone!).

Well, that sums it up in terms of what was in this video.

Other Stuff
Some other stuff, mentioned in the keynote in regards to Mobile and Devices:

- Partnership with Verizon to offer Live Search on all of their Windows Mobile devices

- Smartphones will make up over 50% of the mobile market soon

- Microsoft works hard at the convergence of three ’screens’: PC, TV, and phone

P.S. I picked up a good resource for Windows Mobile News recently … it’s called “windowsmobilecool.com” blog and is run “Bambi Blue” (from Canada). If you haven’t heard, Canadians like their Windows Mobile just as much as Amercians do (even more so, perhaps).
