LG Watch Phones (may have Flash Lite UIs)
December 29th, 2008 by scottjanousekI’ve heard that the next generation of these devices (LG’s “watch/phones”) may being presented at CES 2009 next week. Pretty cool gadgets.
Earlier this year, I recall seeing some photos on flickr which indicated that Flash Lite may be leveraged on the LG “watch phones” (for UI).
Well, the Flash Lite utilized for UI, it’s only speculation on my part from what I saw here … but it would make sense, since LG has publicly endorsed leveraging Flash Lite for user interfaces on a number of their mobile devices.
In fact, some of the UI looks familiar from some of my other LG devices (like the keyboard dialer which looks like the calculator UI from my Voyager, which is just a SWF).

Here’s more on these devices as reported here, in this article called “Dick Tracy’s watch phone becomes a reality” with Mobile Industry Review.
The LG-GD910 has some cool features, like a 1.43″ screen with a camera in front to support video calling, supports a 3G (HSDPA speeds to 7.2 Mbps), voice dialing, built-in speech recognition, text to speech, bluetooth, MP3 playback, and a speaker.

Personally, I’m not sure what kind of market exists for a Watch/Phone, but if it’s anywhere to sell, it’ll be Japan or Korea …
In fact, Korea is where this device is coming from … since it’s an LG creation!
