(Dr. Evil - Austin Powers, if you must know …)

ok, just kidding … it was Mark Doherty (Adobe MaD) who posted the Flash device penetration recent 2008/2009 stats … but isn’t he an evil genius just the same? (kidding, of course about the evil, part).

2008/2009 Flash Device Estimated Penetration Numbers

So with this latest report from Strategic Analytics report, there will be an estimated 1 billion Flash devices by 2009, and 1.5 billion into 2009.

Now all we need is the “sharks with frick’in laser beams attached to their heads” … LOL. Well, we have those coming with newer devices coming onto market with Flash Lite 3.x as well as the very cool (and powerful) device API’s come into play, from the likes of Qualcomm (BREW MP API’s), and Nokia (5th Edition S60 Platform Services).

Also, by Mark’s post and the #’s looks like 1.1 is on the decline

Here are some of the important pieces (courtesy of Mark):

You can read the Strategic Analytics report: 1.5 Billion Flash-Enabled Handsets to be Shipped in the Next Two Years, if you’re interested to see where the #’s where pulled from.

So:

Player Technology = Check
Addressable Device Numbers = Check
Ecosystems - Maturing
Interest from Companies: Getting Better, More Educating needed.

Come on, I used Dr Evil in my eSeminar slides on Flash Lite implementations a month ago :) True though, Mark D is an evil genius …

You did? Anyways, it never gets old … :)

I guess it’s time to move onto newer Meyers material. :)

  3. Dale Rankine Says:

Unfortunately new Meyers material (ala Love Guru) just isn’t funny :(
