SWF2NFL released (Flash Lite Packaging AIR app for Nokia S40 5th Edition)
October 16th, 2008 by Scott JanousekIf you hadn’t heard the news a while back, Nokia released the NFL packaging format for Nokia Series 40 5th Edition devices (and going forward), which allows for Flash Lite content packaging on supporting devices.
Moket has proceeded to create an Adobe AIR app which wraps the process into an easy to use tool. Very cool.
It’s called, of course: swf2nfl. Here is more info:
What is SWF2NFL?
SWF2NFL is an Adobe AIR application that takes your Flash Lite content and packages it for use with the Nokia S40 5th Edition platform. It combines your content (main SWF file plus additional files and sub folders) with an icon and manifest file to create a launchable app from the mobile phone’s Gallery. In this way consumers, who download Flash Lite games and applications using a Nokia S40 5th Edition device, see a custom icon and application name in their Gallery, rather than the raw SWF file itself. The NFL File FormatNFL stands for Nokia Flash Lite, and is a file format created by Nokia specifically for working with standalone player Flash Lite content for S40 5th Edition. It is essentially a ZIP file containing the content and a manifest that describes the attributes of the application - exactly like an Adobe AIR file. NFL files can be created manually of course, but SWF2NFL makes this process more efficient. You can read the Forum Nokia technical document on NFL on the Forum Nokia website.
Supported Devices
SWF2NFL also has a beta feature called the Device Browser. The tool, launched from within SWF2NFL, displays the web pages on the Forum Nokia website that displays all technical information about each supported S40 5th Edition device that uses NFL.Download Manual
