800,000,000 Flash Enabled Devices Shipped Worldwide!
September 11th, 2008 by Scott JanousekAccording to Bill, Shantanu (Adobe, CEO) reported 800 million at his CTIA keynote in San Francisco this week (Sept 2008).
Yes, that’s 800,000,000, or more than 1/2 billion devices that have shipped to date. I imagine, look for a press release (perhaps) soon.
Earlier this year, Adobe had stated they were estimated to make 1 billion devices by 2009.
Congratulations to the Adobe Mobile and Devices team!

Here are some “fun” concept t-shirts I mocked up a few days ago, … I made an amendment to the shirt.
And, yes, I imagine the 800 million probably means full Flash Player on devices as well, but a majority of those will run Flash Lite content just as well.

To OEM’s: This shirt is not endorsed by Adobe Systems Incorporated © in any shape or form. I made it myself, SJ style! It does not necessarily reflect the views, opinions, or expressions at Adobe (but I would hope so).

With the Open Screen Project, I think it’s safe to say, 1 billion is quite doable, especially considering Qualcomm has been very “quiet” lately (just an observation), and was one of the 1st partners to actually announce they are working on next generation Flash technology for their BREW platform (which incidentally, Verizon Wireless, as well as other global entities use).
P.S.
If there is any interest in making these T-shirts for real, let me know. I can do a small batch for the developer community.

Scott,
Reminds me of my Second Life Flash Lite shirt I made, with “Got Mobile?” on the front with the Flash logo
Great minds think alike…

Ha. That is funny. I forget about that!
I saw another one that was clever, by Mark Doherty … not sure if he wants to disclose his tagline though. It’s to do with the Adobe OSP.

Forgot, not forget. I need to install a word spell on WP. Will fix later, too busy.
