Photoshop.com Mobile BETA coming in September 2008
August 26th, 2008 by Scott JanousekBill Perry (Adobe) shared some news today about the new upcoming Photoshop.com Mobile Beta service that is scheduled to launch sometime later this year (as early as September 2008) in the US market.
Photoshop.com Mobile BETA
The application/client (which is Flash Lite) will allow users to upload, view, and share photos directly from a supported mobile devices to Photocom.com. It also (optionally) ties into Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 (but that is for consumer interest, only) … think OVI, or Flickr, Shozu, etc.
6 Target Windows Mobile Devices for initial rollout
Currently, it is said that the service will rollout initially for 6 Windows Mobile devices (with more devices/platforms to be added at later dates):
• MOTO Q Music 9m (Verizon Wireless)
• MOTO Q 9h (AT&T)
• Palm Treo 750w (AT&T)
• SAMSUNG BlackJack I (AT&T)
• SAMSUNG BlackJack II (AT&T)
Hmmm .. looks like Palm has adopted Flash Lite support … a move, that some of us within the Flash Lite community have been talking and/or thinking about for quite a while long time …
I imagine by next year, we’ll see this rolled out to more platforms and to more regions … but for now, it seems very US market based.
Yes, Windows Mobile composes a good market share here (although a company in Cupertino with a touchscreen MID, sure is capturing a lot of users).
Anyways, for more information, you can check out the photoshop.com Mobile Beta page.
Shozu support
Also, it appears Shozu is getting into this announcement as well, possibly offering support for other, non Windows Mobile devices, later this year:
“Use ShoZu to upload photos to your Photoshop.com account from other handsets, including the Apple iPhone, BlackBerry® Pearl™, Motorola Razr, Nokia 5310, and Nokia 6301.”
For more information, head over to the Photoshop for Mobile BETA page, or Bill’s post to leave comments.
Future Integration between Adobe online services/products
I would expect more Adobe to further pursue integration between their (online) service offerings and mobile products, such as this in the future … saying more, would be mere speculation on my part at this time.
