However, depending on your region and culture, the above does not always hold true.
For instance, in some developing nations, mobile is actually the first screen experience users have the most pervasive access to. Due to this fact, the 1st screen experience for them, is actually on a mobile device!
* Some companies (besides Nokia) seem to hold that mobile is part of the 3rd screen era … so, 3rd screen can sometimes include mobile (at least to some degree, but without the more personalized and social aspects that are much more common across many devices, today).
even radio is not a screen it has all aspects of what “screen” brought into society of humans… there has started the creation of everything or “4th screen” and cyberspace where lot of people were in the same “mood” at the same time on different places… what is great about mobile and internet is that is so personalized experience.
Great article Scott, and actually the subject of my dissertation many years ago.
The conclusion that I came to back then was that there was no evolutionary screen, a mobile phone makes phone calls and accesses the Internet. A movie theatre does not.
Still, I’m sure that in the future my ‘laptop’ will undoubtedly live in my pocket.
