KuneriLite launched a new plugin enabling Flash Lite animated ringtones to Nokia Series 60 devices.

Animated ringtones (or “Chaku-flash”) had been possible in Japan for quite a while on supported handsets (using Flash Lite), but KuneriLite has now made it possible on Nokia S60 devices as well.

“KuneriLite Ringtone plug-in can launch any SWF when voice call is ringing, answer or hang up call and optionally mute default ringtone.

This makes Flash ringing tones possible for S60 phones.”

I believe Alessandro and others (perhaps myself, I can’t recall) approached Nokia about supporting a Flash Lite animated ringtone content type as far back as 2006; but outside of Japan, no OEM’s were apparently interested (at that time).

Anyways, fast forward to 2008, and now it’s possible on S60 via KuneriLite, which opens the door to creating some cool content, so kudos to the Kuneri team.
