iRiver Clix 2G Prelaunch Countdown
February 8th, 2007 by Scott JanousekA while ago I pointed out that a few of the new iRiver device lineup (recently announced at CES 2007) have a Flash Lite 2.1 based player implementation. Vivek recently dug up some more info via Gadget Korea.
From what I can translate and make out, in additional to the Flash Lite UI (yes, the device continues with the D-Click design) the new Clix 2G shipping in Korea has 150+ pieces of Flash Lite content (mostly games, of course) onboard.
Most of it looks familiar, however it’s good to see lots of Flash Lite company’s content preinstalled on the Clix 2G. They are calling it UCC (User Created Contents) … aka custom content.
They also support something called “UCI” (User Creation Interface). From this description, I would say that is possible to customize the look and feel, similiar to the iRiver e10. I have heard through word-of-mouth that this is via Flash Lite themes as on the iRiver e10.
I couldn’t confirm (would help if they didn’t use graphics for specs, everywhere!) if it supports Flash Lite wallpaper through a simple menu, however I imagine that could be part of UCI support.
They are doing a prelaunch over there down to Feb 12, 2007 when the device ships. Lots of lovely visuals on the new display, as well as other info that was only privy to beta testers of the device.
Rest assured …if the price point is right … I think this will be a big seller outside of Korea as well.
It would be nice to have it in hand, to give it a “test drive”. The AMOLED based display (Active Matrix Organically Light Emitting Diode) looks just beautiful!
No word when the device will ship outside of Korea.
