project-a-phone ICD-5000
February 1st, 2007 by Scott JanousekLast year I was using the project-a-phone ICD-300 device to demo Flash Lite content. Basically, it’s a hardware device that allows you to project your mobile content onto larger screen via PC software. Good for demoing mobile content across various devices, for example. All in all, it was a nice compact and cheap solution (barring creating something yourself).
Well, project-a-phone have now released the ICD-5000, a newer model that includes a higher resolution camera (5 MP) and some enhancements that make it a bit “snazzier”.
Compared to some of the other mobile display hardware solutions out there (upwards of $1000), this one is pretty affordable ($395 or $195 upgrade) … for mobile developers willing to invest. I’d recommend checking it out as one possible low-budget off-the-shelf hardware solution.
I just received one, so I’ll post more about the device soon. For now, you can watch the video (.avi), which shows you it’s render quality, browse the FAQ, or read the ICD-5000 specs. Also, I don’t think there is anything stopping you from downloading the software that controls the display (if you want to “give it a spin”).
Jeff Hunt (CEO) will be at 3GSM demoing the product. So he can get in touch with project-a-phone if you want a live demo (if you’re going that is).
