That’s great! Except that there are no details on the rules/entry form, or the Silver Platter site, as to HOW “the new keyboard” will function… What keys are on it? Will keys auto-repeat in Flash? Function keys? Ctrl/Alt Keys?
While we can all create some killer apps that rely on “normal” keyboard functionality, the one thing i’ve learned so far with the Flash player on the PSP is not to expect the “normal” to work.

Yes, a contest like this is not particularly useful if you come up with something that works great on desktop keyboard, but not at all with PSP keyboard because it is limited to text entry only, no keypress events.
We might assume they have one of these keyboards to test out on PSP. I just emailed them about keyboard functionality with Flash. I’ll post back if I get any useful info.

Thanks for emailing Hayden. I had meant too, but got busy. I’m sure they are looking into providing more info (somehow).

It seems the PSP community has been down this road before with the failed Logic 3 keyboard. I think Sony will decide whether there is to be a keyboard for PSP, not 3rd parties.

The FITC web site does not mention the manufacturer of the keyboard.

I had seen the cancellation as well, but I wasn’t sure if Sony had changed their mind and Logic 3 was actually producing it now, or whether they had their own version in the works.

Shawn Pucknell from FITC Design emailed that Flash does respond to key press events from the PSP keyboard.
