TiVo desktop upgrade 2.3 adds mobile video formats
June 24th, 2006 by Scott JanousekI caught this from Darla Mack’s blog.
Here’s the gist of the upgrade as it pertains to mobile …
“Upgrade the free version of TiVo Desktop to TiVo Desktop Plus and automatically convert your TiVoToGo transfers for iPod, PSP, Treo, Nokia, and other portable devices that support MPEG-4 or H.264 video.”
Apparently for $25 USD, you can upgrade the TiVo desktop software to allow for export to: iPOD, PSP, Tero, Nokia (N80 right now), and most devices that support MP4 or H.264 video. Sweet.
Here are the formats available right now:
Check out Darla’s post or engadget.
Download the TiVo upgrade ($25).
I’m just about to have at it … I’ll report on this when I have some results.
If anyone has a N80 and TiVo and willing to try it, post a comment here (Alessandro?!).

Worked like a charm. The only big piece missing is finding a good auto-sync software for the N80.
Still not as good as the Microsoft Smartphone implementation — since I get that with TivoToGo for free, and it autosyncs the shows to my handheld when you connect it. Much more intuitive and easier.
But nice to see the N80 supported nonetheless
