Some interesting commentary on the future of Mobile TV.

I wonder how mobitv is doing these days. On another note, the slingbox looks interesting …

I’ve seen ads, and I think David Yang has tried it first hand (on PPC?). Might be handy if you are a “road warrior” and like to keep up to speed on your favorite series (Sports, LOST perhaps?). Then again, there’s always DVR services like TIVO.

Also, if you haven’t already checked it out, Nokia has an interesting site on it’s vision of mobile television.

Will mobile TV on handset devices be as mainstream outside of the APAC region? <shrug>

An idea that came to mind though … I was thinking that integrating TV services and Flash down the road might be worth pursuing for certain mobile operators … I know this kind of integration has been done on the desktop with STB services such as NTT’s ONC Theater. But mobile? Hmmm.

Perhaps in time, if mobile TV becomes a hotspot, and devices capabilities appear, this may be an area Adobe, operators and device manufacturers explore further with future versions of Flash Lite

For example: Pushing down video channel content via (something like) FlashCast would be an idea that comes to mind, first and foremost … but, we’re probably a few years off from seeing the likelihood of this (if it happens at all).

Time will tell if mobile TV becomes a global phenomenon.
