And you thought the Nokia N series was expensive …
June 11th, 2006 by Scott JanousekI saw this posted on craigslist (see below) …
I’ve heard of diamond encrusted phones, but I never thought anyone would have the gaul to try to sell these “pimped out” devices out in public.
Most likely this is one of those sad craig’s list gimicky “scams” … but then again, it just might be legit. Who knows!
Anyways, I was wondering if the v3I posted below is close to the specs of the Motorola RAZR v3C (in terms of BREW, etc) …
According to what Adobe showed at the BREW conference (a v3C device running an unreleased FL4B (Flash Lite for BREW) implementation), the v3C might be another phone to support FL4B (Flash Lite for BREW). The key word here is might. This is not definite (yet)!
[ As a side note, only the Samsung A-950 and LG VX9800 have been stated to support FL4B, thus far! ]
However, if it was certified to run FL4B in the future, and the v3C is close to the v3I in the ad, then it struck me that this would perhaps be the world’s most expensive Flash Lite enabled device. Ha! And you thought the n-series hit your wallet!
Then, I was then thinking … perhaps, Bill Perry, could be the “man with the golden cellphone“? … well, that is, until someone from accounting caught wind of it …
Probably best to stick with the “non-pimped” out version. Not even Snoop Dogg would pay for this bling! Or would he?! Hmmm.
Anyways, just a bit of tech humor.

Real gold? I think it’s just gold paint, or that gold foil stuff? I think would be prefer the latter above paint
Oh well, I WANT FLASH LITE 2.1

Then again, if gold isn’t your thing we do have this lovely diamond-crusted Samsung SPH-E3200 for a mere $54,000.

I’ve seen a number of Nokias decked out with jewels in Asia (Thailand, Hong Kong) as well.

Yeah, I wonder how much of that 95g is actual gold.
… and I suppose the people that are willing to buy this phone aren’t too worried about spending another 3k on newer model once the older one is defunct!
Brian … Diamonds are forever?
… Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

I really hope that device isn’t locked to one carrier…

Who the heck wants to carry around a 3lb RAZR? High class or not, that completely defeats the purpose of a “slim phone”. I’m sure it’ll show up in some Rap video or something soon.
And Brian it says ‘(unlocked)’ or I would of pondered the impracticality of it all as well. Nice find, Scott.

The phone itself is 95g. 3 lb refers to the whole package, which has cables, charger, etc.

Yep. It was a scam. Seems this phone goes for $400 retail.
