Not all blogs support (dynamic) resizing of posted images … and let’s face it, loading up Photoshop or Fireworks just to resize an image or two is overkill (not to mention kind of silly in my opinion).

What you say? I’ll just be lazy and scale the original image(s) in HTML within a post? Bad idea, especially if the images are from a high resolution camera, etc. :)

What’s one to do if an image doesn’t fit a blog posting?

Well, quite a while back, I discovered that the Image Resizer found in Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP provides a quick and easy tool to repurpose images for blog postings.

I’ve been using it for quite a while now, and it’s always been good to me, so I thought I’d share this little “gem”.

Download the Image Resizer.

Once installed, it adds right click functionality to images so that you can resize them quickly.

It has several preselected sizes, including 240×320 which works nicely within most blog postings.

However, if that does not suit you, there is also an option to resize to whatever dimensions you so desire (under the advanced button).

If this tool catches your eye … check out some of the other tools. The calculator might be handy for some …

Also, Felix Turner posted about using a SyncToy today for backups, so I won’t go there. However, I will mention Novosoft’s handy backup, which Keith Peter turned me onto a while back (Thanks Keith).

If you don’t want to use Mozy as Felix recommended, check out Novosoft’s handy backup.
