The viliv p1 is finally here (in the US). It says “unlimited excitement” right on the display … :)

So far that is true. Here is the unpacking process. I’ll post a review in a bit, stay tuned … and yes I read the recent CNET review. I’ll reserve my own judgement thank you.

Also an FYI … the viliv p2 is in the works (so is the iriver u10 “successor”, the e10 … well maybe not “successor”, take a look at the design). but given that this took 6+ months to get out of Korea I expect the same to happen with the viliv p2 and e10.

But for today the viliv p1 is looking mighty sweet. I’ll post in a bit when I have a chance to push some 1.1 content onto it, etc.

Here are the pics:

I just got mine too… didn’t even know I had an invoice until I saw your pics. I look forward to your review. I took some unpacking pics myself and am contemplating writing an extended review.

I like the look pf the P1 but I’m holding out to see what the P2 can do. However, the P1 will probably have a price drop so it will make it a strong temptation. I have one question though, a lot of reviews have compained about the UI, one of the biggest problems is the sluggish behaviour. Can you confirm/deny this, and can you also eplain what improvements the firmware upgrades have added. Thanks for your time.

    C. Woodward,

There is a sample video of the p2 that I just posted about within the last week.

Judging from the video … you won’t have to worry about sluggish UI performance on the p2.

On the viliv p1, yes, it is not as “fluid” as one would like, but the device is still nice, especially if were at a discount.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, I didn’t see the video but I have now. The P2 certainly looks the business. My Rio Karma died and I want to replace it and step-up a level. I think it’s either a P2 or an Ipod. The P2 has a higher level of functionality but probably will have a much higher price tag.

    Decisions, decisions.

  6. Andy Says:

Do you know when the P2 will come out in the US?

  7. Scott Janousek Says:

I’ll I can say is sooner than the viliv p1 took to get here from South Korea.

  8. Andy Says:

Couldn’t wait for it. I just ordered the P1. Hope it’s as good as advertised!

  9. Scott Janousek Says:

Andy, you should look on ebay … there might be some deals for the viliv p1 with the p2 coming out soon.

In many respects the viliv p1 is like the u10. The u10 was great, but the clix really improved upon a lot of things.

I expect the same to be true of the viliv p2.

If you do get the viliv p1, be sure to run the firmware updates.
