Flash Lite User Interface = F.L.U.I
April 11th, 2006 by Scott JanousekI got sick and tired of saying Flash Lite User Interface, so today I’m informally proposing the term F.L.U.I (pronounced flu-eee). F.L.U.I stands for Flash Lite User Interface.
If we have GUI (Graphic UI), why not FLUI? Some may already be using the term that I’m not aware of … Who’s with me on this?
Examples of FLUI’s are found on the iriver u10, viliv p1, as well as many Korean handsets. These are the embedded FLUIs.
Other FLUI’s include the interfaces in our typical Flash Lite applications, games, and other content types.
Of course the benefits of a FLUI are that they are quick to build and provide a much more pleasant mobile user experience (compared to other mobile technologies).

[...] Well, we don’t need another acronym, like “FLUI” but I sure like the idea of using some vector based technology to create UIs, like IRiver clix and U10 media players, and now Phones are really starting on it. Check it out the 1st,2nd and 3rd level of LG’s chocolate user interface to see flash in action on a commercial mobile phone. Clicking here. My doubt: how much is it scalable? How far can we go with flash interfaces? Does it worth having a 3rd party software running all the time to provide the UI? Unm, sounds kind of risky to me. [...]
