Will Apple adopt Windows?
February 22nd, 2006 by Scott JanousekThere is a really interesting article in the March issue of PC Magazine, entitled: “Will Apple adopt Windows?” … written by John Dvorak.
The idea is that of Yakov Epstein, a professor at Rutgers (who? Yeah mean neither) …
Now, I’m not claiming to agree or even remotely think it’s a good idea … but after reading the article, I am more apt to believe that one day Steve Jobs will get up on stage and give a speal on how Windows is good for Apple … sounds far fetched I know, but the article has some compelling signs as of late … here are 4 signs pointed in the article:
- apple switch campaign is over (little or no one “switched”), or if they did, they swapped back
- the ipod lost its firewire connector (PC World is the target audience now)
- ipod was an attempt to get people to move to Mac, most use ipod’s with a PC
- Apple switched to Intel
There are other subtle signs in the article … but again none of this is cold hard truth, merely speculation … but if you think about it, Apple is like 2% of the market … why wouldn’t Apple go Windows at some point?
Don’t get me wrong, I love Apple and I love OSX … I just think this is a remote possiblity … given the business side of things.
Oh, boy here come the nasty hate mails. ![]()

Well we might get an Windows OS upgrade faster if they did.
Apple seems to get them out pretty fast.

Sure they may adopt windows, as soon as Steve Jobs leaves Apple.
I remember seeing some nextstep stuff backstage at Macworld in ‘97 right after he got back at apple. It ran on a PC, in fact Steve had a PC laptop with him (hidden in the podium). But it all ran his OS. I think it’s all about the user experience for him, and you could argue windows is still behinf apple on this.

Good commentary Rob.
Imagine if there were a backdoor into mind of Steve Jobs, on a floor halfway between floors … imagine you were able to BE Steve Jobs until you were spat out next to the interstate freeeway …
malchovich, malchovich, malchovich … steve jobs, steve jobs, steve jobs!

We’ve published a very similar article to this, but one that uses actual quotes from Steve Jobs as well as Apple’s own business actions to paint the same kind of picture.
