iriver u10 forum - www.u10do.com (you-ten-doe)
February 20th, 2006 by Scott JanousekCraig Babcock officially launched an online forum dedicated specifically to the u10 recently in case you missed the previous blog entry by Alessandro.
It’s aptly named ‘U10DO’ (you-ten-doe) .
It features forums, links, gallery, etc.
Definately worth checking out if you’re an u10 lover, or would like to know more info about the device and its capabilities.

I wish that UI was good on the U10, but its not. And the processor in it makes the whole experience a little dodgy for me. We got one at work to play around with - and as a toy its pretty good. As a serious device for AV, I would pass it right up.
Maybe the U11 will be better? ;?

I’m certainly not going to say the u10 is better than an ipod … that’s for sure. But maybe their next product? No word on the “u11″ … but there is a 2 gig model coming around …
Reigncom (the korean company who invented the u10) is working on the g10, specifically for game market … from what I hear, Koreans love their gaming even more than here in the States … but I don’t think it will be flash enabled, so it’s not the logical next step after the u10.
All in all, it doesn’t matter since devices are finally converging into media friendly “phone hybrids” anyway.

Thanks for the mention, Scott!
Hi Eric,
What aspects of the UI don’t you like? I ask because the (Flash) UI combined with the ‘D-Click’ navigation is something I really like about the U10. I am curious what others have to say about it (and why).
As for the processor… given the form factor and price point, I think it performs admirably. I agree that it could be a bit peppier, and it would be great if I could fit more music/video/Flash on to it, but that would make it bigger, heavier, more expensive and shorten battery life.
Admittedly, the U10 is NOT a ’serious device for AV’. It is not a Creative Zen PMP, not a Video iPod, not a Nokia 770 nor a Palm Lifedrive LifeDrive. As a gaming platform, it will never compare with a Sony PSP or even a Gameboy Micro. Yes, It IS a toy - a toy that does a lot of things well and fits comfortably in your pocket.
How fun is that?!

I would love to see a device with flashlite that had the horsepower to do something remotely similar to a desktop. I know that is pie in the sky, but imagine how powerful and liberating that would be. Even 1/2 the processor & display power. Wow.
About the phone hybrids… I am not completely sold on that as a final destination. I think there is still quite a lot of merit in a device being able to do one or two things extremely well. Its going to be very hard for someone to be able to create a do-it-all device that does everything well. Thats so complex and needs such a great user experience to make it work. I hope it does indeed happen, as it saves your pockets room, forces manufacturing companies to think harder about UI & usability, and will spawn new convergence technologies.
Here is to hoping the Flash player comes along for the ride

That site needs to imrove a litte.
http://www.gadgetkorea.com is the site you want. With over 1000 U10 users, with tons of infos and a friendly team, it is truly the number 1 source for the iriver U10.
It also has 600 flash games and hacks for the U10/Clix, which is very nice.;)

Sarah, there is a lot of controversy over that particular site.
I’ve actually given serious thought to removing references from my blog as a matter of fact.

I realy like the u10 info demo at the top it gives a nice clean look to the forum. its a bummer that it didn’t take off I think misticirver is probly the best place that I know of for the U10 info and so on. I my self have tryed to gather up some info for flash end user for the U10 in my forum http://jrcproduct.com/forum but that too has little use for other people may be I should of just made a blog. I think the big problem is that there is little in the way of best coding from others beside minigate and adobe. but with only your templet to work from and no cdk for the clix fear that it will be a long time befor it realy take notice along side the nokiea 60 phones. if you need I found a authoring guide for the U10 only at http://jrcproduct.com/FlashLite_1.1_authoring_guidelines_for_iriver_U10.pdf
