On a whim I bought this book written by Kevin.

Being a developer first and foremost, I had some initial reservations about purchasing the book … however, I had always regretted not attending his session at FITC (it was the only one that was targeted towards the creative “business” ) … so after reading the sample chapter, I figured I might give the book a shot … try to gain a few tips here and there from a developer’s point of view.

First off the book is short (80 pages or so). But that is a good thing … as a lot of us already know … time is limited in the life of a freelancer … the writing style is “short” and to the point. It is a simple & quick read.

Some of the material is catered towards those with < 2 years experience of practical business experience ... it is however, VERY appropriate for those who are just starting out in freelance graphic design ( < 2 years ) ... but all in all, that's not to say that I didn't pick up a few good tips ... and those tips were worth the price tag on the book.

Yes, there ARE points to be had in this book, although in the end I wished there were more case studies. Eventually, I hope Kevin writes a follow up, or another edition for more experienced designers & developers out there.

In summary, the book is a valuable asset for anyone just starting out in freelance web design ... I will be recommending it for some my students ... I suggest reading some of the sample content to see if it would be useful to you. You can review and buy it from:

Thank you for your review! I glad you liked it. I do plan to write a follow-up book. The next book will be a more “how-to” for seasoned folks. I’m even going to put in a chapter on how to “hack-together” your own open source version of basecamp.

    cheers!

I find that advertising on the freelance listing sites don’t help anymore. There are too many low bidders for me to compete with. There is a new site coming up on Monday I think that promises no bidding. There is a free listing too. It’s http://www.fueledart.com

  4. SEO Says:

My main concern is that you can’t guarantee every page of your website will be included in the SERPs. Considering I’m constantly adding new products to my company’s website, I need to be sure that customers can find them as soon as possible.http://www.seoptimizerz.com
