Nokia holds fire on mobile gaming … focus shifts to mobile music and TV
November 25th, 2005 by Scott JanousekHaving bought an original n-gage as a test-bed device for FL 1.1 development … this caught my eye recently. Not really suprising … Read the announcement: Nokia holds fire on mobile gaming … focus shifts to mobile music and TV. Basically, they are suspending their n-gage gaming efforts for a bit.
I think this sums it up:
1. “We learnt that people want to play games on all devices. As such we are integrating the gaming software into Series 60 phones.”
2. Nokia is concentrating on mobile music for the rest of this year, and next year’s main push will be on driving mobile television. Vasara explained that screen sizes and quality will be much more conducive to mobile gaming systems by 2007.
What does this mean to Flash Lite Developers? Nothing. We have plenty of devices to work with.
However, we *could* see an influx of n-gage developers (& companies) start in with Flash Lite (Game) Development. This will be a good thing (if it happens).
