FITC 2005 Synopsis
April 13th, 2005 by scottjanousek_lifeblogYou’ve probably already read how great FITC was from some of blogging that was done by Keith Peters, Sam Robbins, and Josh Dura during the conference.
Here are some highlights on the conference this past weekend:
- At least 50% (if not more) of the people there seemed to be students. 40 alone were from RIT (which has a great media department by the way). Having younger gen people at a conference really
makes a good scene for having fun. - Not many people had FlashLite on their phones. I only had a few people using the FITC mobile guide, but it provided some good feedback for the next version. Flash Lite will support AS2 (eventually) and testing flash apps should get easier through the use of an emulator.
- Yugo is brilliant because he combines function with form.
- I don’t know whether to hate Carson because he breaks the rules or love him because he doesn’t give a crap. Some of his talk would make most designers I know cringe.
- The music played before each seminar was a great compilation, especially the piece right before Jared Tarbell’s talk. Had kind of spanish influence in it … not sure who it was, but I really liked it. Have to find out.
- Shawn Pucknell did a really great job on the event. There were a few things that can be better next year, but overall it came off well put together (though I’m sure there was a ton of planning, etc going on behind the scenes). I’d put some money into more kiosks. I’d also add intronetworks software into the conference (as MAX did last year).
- (Flash or Processing ) + emotion + mathematics + (computer) science = mouth drooling
- Tarbell was truely inspirational.
- Colin Moock’s new experiment on social interaction/community (check out his site) was mind blowing.
- Joshua Davis + Branden Hall = success or more simply: creative + technical = brilliance
- gskinner’s OOP talk was thought provoking.
There’s much much more I came away with … but you get the point. Send me an email if you want to know more about specifics that went on.
It was greating meeting everyone and I hope to be at FITC 2006 to see what people will be doing with the next set of technology from Macromedia!
