Greetings all!

FITC2005_mainmenu.gif

If you’re lucky enough … you’ll be attending either FITC 2005 or FF 2005 this week. Both should will be very informative, not to mention a lot of fun.

For Flash in the Can, I’ve put together a Flash Lite enabled mobile guide. This is a version 1.1 release.

Download it:

  • .zip - FITC2005.zip
  • .swf - FITC2005.swf (Right Click “Save As”), README.TXT

I may release another version before the conference starts … but not to worry as the app will “check in” to home base, see if there is a newer version, and alert you if so.

Some of the core features include: a schedule viewer, presentation/speaker lookup, city map, & daily polling … all of it compacted into a 200k .swf which is not to shabby.

If you’re not sure on how to install the app, you can check out the
    README.TXT.

At this point, I have only tested on a nokia 3660 (series 60). If you have a different phone … give it a try, please let me know how it works.

Lastly, if you’re at the conference and interested in Flash Lite and mobile Flash, track me down and we can chat.

Well that’s about it. Let me know what you think, and you can always send me comments, suggestions, and feedback at:

Nice job on this Scott! Shawn just sent me the link to it. I love it. Been wanting to do something like this the past two years for the festival but have never had the time.

Thanks for putting this out there for everyone to use. Now if only there was one slightly modified for the PocketPC :)

A PPC version would be radically different on multiple levels (design, architecture, etc) …

Nowadays most people I meet are more likely to have a high end phone than a PDA … or a PDA like phone. It’ll be interesting to see how devices are converging …

Anyways, I think Macromedia is definately on track with FlashLite and FlashCast … now if they can integrate these technologies into their backend products (like CF and Flex) they’ll have a gold mine in a couple years time …
