“Flashcii” - Ascii Art on Flash Steriods

Thursday, December 30th, 2004

I’m not sure if this has been blogged yet, but it’s an interesting product … input an image and it outputs an animation consisting of ascii characters … product is still in alpha and beta is not available (quite yet) … reminds me of my BBS days when ASCII art was all the rage.

RFID labels just around the corner

Sunday, December 26th, 2004

Earlier this year I read an article on RFID and the state of technology …
… for those of you not up to speed, RFID technology is basically the idea of tracking items by RF (Radio Frequency) … tagging an inventory of items with small RFID devices … a scanner can read these really tiny and [...]

From CNN … Study: Mobile phone radiation harms DNA?

Tuesday, December 21st, 2004

Take this with a “grain of salt” … since many studies are shown to be inaccurate or inconclusive … but it makes you think how much you *really* should be using that cell phone …
Good thing there are emulators and templates for those of us putting in hours of flashlite development!

From CNN:
MUNICH/AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - [...]

“Senor Sombra” (Mr. Shadow) from wired mag’s site …

Friday, December 17th, 2004

Someone sent this to me recently … it’s off of wired mag’s site … for some reason I always love this style of animation, reminds me of my friend Eric Mauro’s “Mr. Qhead” series (which has sadly gone away for some reason) …
View “Senor Sombra” aka “Mr. Shadow”.
Enjoy muchachos.

Tuesday, December 14th, 2004

Over the years being a Solutions Architect and Developer … and despite my sometimes overwhelming collection of hundreds or so technical manuals, books, and documentation (literally falling off my shelves) … this 37 page document remains high of my top 10 MUST-READS for any developer, designer, or even PMs for that matter.

“MotoArt” … Furniture that belongs at Macromedia?

Thursday, December 9th, 2004

I caught this off of the discovery channel … the company takes old salvaged airplane parts and converts them into innovative furniture pieces … interesting concept, albeit a bit on the expensive side … anyways, it’s cool & ‘retro’ looking, like some of the pictures I’ve seen of the Macromedia SF office …
Some of their [...]

Subliminal Typography trick in FedEx logo

Wednesday, December 8th, 2004

This isn’t anything to do with Flash, but it’s cool nevertheless …
Ever notice the fedex logo has a (subliminal) arrow icon in it even though it’s only made up of only typography?
Look at the EX (the inside white part) … I’m sure it’s no coincidence, rather
a cute marketing trick a designer came up with. [...]

It’s [...]
